- About Us -
Welcome to Willow Springs Lavender (WSL). Starting a lavender business was a dream that came true for Sally. After years of sedentary work and travel it was time to do something different. Fueled by a passion to be outside and a love for lavender, WSL was founded. The first step was getting educated on the plant. After a course at Michigan State, a weekend educational retreat at a lavender learning facility and joining USLGA (United States Lavender Growers Association) Sally was ready to prepare the field and buy some plants. This wasn’t as easy as she thought it would be. There are over 45 different lavender species and over 400 different varieties. Many hours, days and months went into reading about each cultivar, zone hardiness, scents, color, and benefits. She initially decided on 6 different cultivars, purchased 150 plants and started the work of field design. The farm now has over 20 different cultivars and over 1,000 plants.
Our Farm:
Located just north the Maryland state line, in south central Pennsylvania, our 50 acre beef farm is recognized historically as Camp Mason & Dixon in which 1500 Union troops camped during the civil war in 1861. We have had the pleasure to host the Bucktail Regiment reenactors on several occasions. Willow Springs Lavender is a 2.5 acre subsection of Willow Springs Farm and is situated on the fields once occupied by the Union troops.
WSL is owned and operated by Sally Miller. The farm is open by appointment throughout the year with designated hours during the blooming period. There are over 20 different cultivars producing white to deep, dark purple blooms June - August.
Mantra:
just breathe
Just Breathe - a sprig of lavender between the two words reminds me to breathe in and appreciate what God has provided. The heart demonstrates the feeling of full and complete love for the ability to fulfill our dreams.
